The Data-Lock Compiler

The Data-Lock Compiler automates the process of customising the Data-Lock Reader interface. All you have to do is provide simple information, links to graphics, set colour schemes, point to the data area, and the Data-Lock Compiler will generate all the files necessary to burn direct to CD (or other media), including ReadMe and autostart files. The compiler also generates a self-extracting EXE file and a zipped version for emailing. The Enterprise version also generates a web version of the document index ready to upload to your internet or intranet site.

The following screen shots show the simple steps necessary to design a customised interface for the Data-Lock Reader. Notice that ticks appear after each piece of data has been defined, giving you a check list to ensure all information has been entered.

1. Company Information

Enter company name, contact details, company URL, and copyright info.

2. Appearance

Enter heading, select company logo and an optional second graphic, choose the colour scheme for the background, heading and text, select a layout for the document index.

3. Welcome Text

Enter the text that appears on the opening page of the Data-Lock Reader window.

4. Passwords

In the Professional and Enterprise versions of the Data-Lock Compiler you can password-protect the GT-Reader document index. Enter the passwords and set their expiry dates, which allows you to control how long data is available, with the option to renew access at defined intervals.

5. Data

Enter the path to the source files you want included in the document index. The files are indexed by folder name and file name, so you can control how the document index appears. Select the destination folder into which the compiled project is written. If you choose the database index, enter the database, user name and password.

6. Compile the project

Compile the project, which shows progress and generates a log file. The generated files are written to the specified destination folder. Now run the Data-Lock Reader application from the destination folder
